This is going to seem quaint at some point, but I've come across two things in the past two days which require note from a nerd point of view.

First, the new Dell Studio XPS 435 desktop. It starts out with 6gb of RAM, which is impressive enough, but more notable to me was that it is expandable to 24gb. This is a consumer model.

Second, I saw an ad last night for a 1tb external hard drive for under $100. I got an 80gb drive a couple years ago for a little under that.

It seems like, until recently, 98% of consumers and their needs were met with 2gb of RAM and ~100gb of storage. Crazy.
