Since 18th between K and I is mostly/slightly covered and I was hungry, I went to Pret to grab a sandwich, hugging close to the building sides and making liberal use of parking garage entrances. Then the sky opened up and the winds howled.
I've never seen this much rain in DC, maybe only once or twice in my life (and that's giving my occasionally weak memory benefit of the doubt). Thankfully, I had my sandwich, I had my Ornette Coleman, so despite getting some spray I stood, ate, and people watched. The worst part was turning the corner from 18th onto K, which is a gaping hole in the patchwork awning security system.

Amanda was driving on 16th and reported stopped traffic, lanes and roads closed, and many a car with a new tree branch laying across it.
And our apartment has sprung some leaks, apparently. Good times. Kind of like Snowpocalypse/Snowmaggedon but...not.
