Snowmageddon 2.0

We're running out of punny names. This, however, is the worst day yet. The wind is gusting up to 60mph, and we're at near white-out conditions.

Snowmageddon

We topped out somewhere in the 20" to 30" range. More than Snowpocalypse for sure. We headed off to Meridian Hill (Malcolm X) Park for some sledding and, needless to say, hundreds of people from the surrounding neighborhoods had the same idea. Sledding down the stairs, snowball fights erupting on a moment's notice, several snow sculptures...people knew how to enjoy the snow.

Puppy! All of the dogs were very confused with all of the snowballs flying around. On several occasions, a dog would follow one snowball into the middle of a fight and, finding itself surrounded with flying snowballs, would try to catch every single one.

These guys had a keg from the previous night that they wanted to kill. We were only to happy to lighten their load.

I'd say a few hundred. For the first while when we were there, the two teams were working each other down the length of the open area. Later on, the two teams became people on either sideline of the area.

There were excursions, advances, counterattacks, suicide charges, and massacres.

Apparently the place to sled down is...the stairs. It looked rather painful, especially with being pelted from above, but it's pretty amazing how well wrapping yourself in a trash bag works.

Every good snow day is followed by hot cocoa and cookies in front of a fireplace (even if it's gas). Now fingers crossed that DC can't figure out snow removal before work on Monday.

Motorcade

Leaving work, streets were closed in multiple directions. I walked up 16th to see what I could see (including if the S buses were running) and came across a group of people waiting to see the motorcade, so decided to stop.

This is right next to WVSA SAIL Charter School; the kids were pretty excited, as you can hear.

A handful of protesters were there from some Concerned Students group. One of the signs asked for Obama to resign, so I assume they're ardent Biden supporters. The fact that they were students was already evident from the "Reid, Pelosi, Obama: Axis of Taxes" poster, since if they were employed and paid real taxes they'd know that they were paying less under Obama.

Cognitive dissonance is a powerful tool.

Melodica

Went with an Excalibur for my weapon. It turns out that I remember more piano than I thought I did. Some of the notes are a little off, which is apparently to be expected with melodicas, and depending on how much initiative I want to have, I could sand down the reeds a little bit. Regardless, it's fun to be picking up a new genre of instrument.

Unfortunately my charango is in the repair shop, but hopefully that will get sorted out soon.
