Orbiter Discovery and International Space Station

7:23pm last night, leave the bar in Chinatown and look to the northwest. Jamie spots it first. It's bright, even against the city lights, and moving quickly. I don't have a decent camera on me but give it a shot regardless.

There we are.

Some great pictures of what they were doing from a little closer vantage point are here.

"While in orbit, the space shuttle circles the planet at some 17,500 miles (28,000 kilometers) an hour, which means that the crew sees a sunrise or sunset every 45 minutes."
